Introducing Rowan, Whiptails lightweight trench coat designed specifically for whippets and greyhounds, ideal for use from spring through fall. Its versatility allows you to layer it over a jumper during colder months, thanks to its open fit and adjustable belted waist. Rowan is easy to put on before heading out for your hound’s walks and the T-shape belt helps to hold the coat in place with movement.

Crafted from lightweight, water-resistant waxed cotton, Rowan helps your hound stay dry in the rain. Plus, it’s machine washable for easy maintenance! The coat is partially lined with cotton treated with further water resistance to provide extra protection in rainy conditions, all while using plastic-free fabrics. While not classed as fully waterproof, this coat stays dry inside even after long periods out in the rain.

A harness hole is discreetly placed below the shoulders. By default, it sits 3.5″ below the neck, but if you have specific customization requests, like adjusting the harness hole’s position or adding a collar hole, simply reach out to me at contact@whiptails.co.uk.

Please note that the Ochre variation of this coat fabric is no longer in production. Once the remaining fabric sells out, it won’t be restocked, so make sure to get yours before it’s gone!

How to measure your dog

Go to ‘Size Guide‘ in the topbar menu for a more detailed guide, with images to help illustrate how to take the back measurement.
If you need help finding the right size for you or just want to double-check before making a purchase, please get in touch at contact@whiptails.co.uk.

Chest : Measure around the chest at the widest point.

Back : Start your measurement where you can feel the top of your dog’s shoulder blades, make sure not to measure to the base of the neck. Make sure your dog is standing straight and measure down the back, ending at the base of the tail. Do not measure onto the tail. See the Whiptails ‘Size Guide’ here for images to help illustrate this.

Neck : Take your measurement at the base of your dog’s neck, at the widest point.

GREYHOUNDS Important Measuring Tip

On average, you can expect your greyhounds back length to be roughly 3-5″ shorter than you are used to buying from other retailers. For example, greys who would normally wear a 28/30″ back would need a 24/25″ from Whiptails. The length of all garments is much longer than the length of your greyhounds back. Generally, the vast majority of greyhounds fit into the size M. Sizes L/XL are suited for greyhounds larger than is standard for the breed. For the best fit I would not recommend adding extra length to the back as garments will sit out of shape. Whiptails apparel has been tried and tested with the help of greyhounds around Scotland to ensure the most accurate fit.

Italian Greyhound Measuring Tip

If your Italian Greyhound falls between the Whippet XS & Italian Greyhound XL, opt for the XL Italian Greyhound. If your iggy measures 17″ on the back, for legless styles I’d recommend the iggy XL – Although measurements are similar, the clothing is shaped differently between the breeds.
